Marketplace listing policy
Sort a new marketplace listing into allowed, age-restricted, needs seller authorization, or prohibited.
F@fProblem
Marketplaces receive listings faster than reviewers can read them, and most are fine. Restricted and prohibited items need to be held before they go live, not found after a complaint.
Goal
Publish ordinary listings quickly and hold everything that may need age gating, seller checks or removal for a reviewer.
Input / state
The listing text and a summary of your marketplace's item rules.
- title
- Listing title.
- description
- Listing description.
- item_rules
- Short summary of your allowed, restricted and prohibited item rules.
Decision question
listing_policyUnder the item rules, which category does this listing fall into?

Example state
{
"title": "Handmade oak cutting board",
"item_rules": "Restricted: alcohol, blades over 7 cm (adults only). Authorized sellers only: listed luxury brands. Prohibited: recalled products, weapons.",
"description": "Food-safe oil finish, 40 x 25 cm."
}Outcome
IllustrativeChoice is allowed and confidence meets your threshold.
Why
An ordinary household item.
Using it well
- Keep the rules in the state short and specific; the option descriptions should point at them rather than repeat them.
- Hold prohibited listings for a reviewer instead of deleting them automatically, so sellers can appeal and mistakes are caught.
- Listing text is written by sellers and can be adversarial. Pair with the prompt injection signal if listings also feed an AI shopping assistant.
